The Bro Nameth Awards..100th post

This post marks the 100th post from Bro Nameth. We really appreciate all the support and feedback the Bro Nameth Supporters have shown over the last few months. Every month during football season our monthly page views went up over 25%!! Thanks again for spreading the word and getting BROtivated.

The Awards are broken down into multiple categories ranging from the Betty White Award to the most underrated/overrated players in each sport. ENJOY

BASEBALL

Most Overrated:
  • Jayson Werth- 126,000,000! That's a lot of freaking ZERO's for a guy who is already 31, hit in an unbelievably friendly hitters park, was surrounded by guys named Utley, Howard and Victorino and has a really fruity mustache. I'm not knocking the hustle but for what he is being paid he better hit 40+ dingers and hit about .330. How about this for a pun; Jayson might be werth something but he ain't werth that!
  • Joba Chamerlain- Someone tell me when im supposed to be scared hes pitching? All the talk was this kid was the next Roger Clemons. An intimidator that even Dale Earnhardt would have been scared of. The dude straight blows. Heres the real question; Why the hell did his parents name him Joba!?! Go eat a burrito you know you want to.
  • Jeff Francoeur- "Overrated? Francoeur hasn't been good for 3 years so how can you call him overrated?" Well considering people were calling him The Natural after his first season and now he can barely get an invite to Spring Training so I would say he fits the bill. I like Jeff Francoeur. In fact I have met him a few times and he couldn't be a nicer guy. Problem is he can't hit a curveball. Well he cant really hit anything. He has a very strong arm and is pretty solid defensively but that .230 BA sticks out worse than girls who tan in the winter.
Most Underrated:
  • Andrew McCutchen- I know he is still young but this kid is going to be a freaking baller in the next 2 years. Unfortunately for him he plays for the Pirates. I see him winding up donning a Yankee or RedSox Jersey by 2014. The guy can fat fly and has a great bat. He is on the underrated list because he is a top OF in the game yet not a single person would consider him that if asked. Want a fantasy STUD this year? Draft my boy McCutchen.
Most Under appreciated:
  • Kevin Youkilis- YOUUUUUUUUUUUUKKK to all you "Sawx" fans. He might look like an idiot as he stands in there waiting for you to bring the cheese but behind that beard is a legit power bat. Everyone always talks about how clutch Big Pops Ortiz is but Youkilis is just as big in clutch situations. That goatee beard looks more like something Chuck Norris would be proud of.
Worst Player in Baseball:
  • Pedro Feliz- Anytime your OPS is HALF (.46) of the league average, you must be pretty shitty. I can't take full credit for this find as I did some googling and found that stat on Feliz. I remember when he was a 20+ HR guy who would give you a .270 average. Now he is easily the worst player in baseball that starts. This category could have been given to Corky Miller or Greg Norton but neither of them is even fit to be given an award, no matter how crappy the award.
Best Coach:
  • Mike Scioscia- I know this might be hard for some of you to swallow (that's what she said) but Scoscia has the Angels in contention almost every single year and has a title to show for it (2002). "but Chris, how is this any different than what Bobby Cox did?" First, don't mention Bobby Cox in my posts. Second, Scioscia has won with FAR FAR inferior talent than what Cox had. Scioscia is also a two time AL Manager of the year.
Worst Coach:
  • Jerry Manuel- I know hes no longer the manager but this is based off of what he did while being the manager of the Mets. They were awful and completely underachieved. All his fault? Probably not but he couldn't manage a bullpen and just seemed like a real loser. Maybe he should have gotten thrown out a little more so he would get a free pass like you know who.

BASKETBALL
Most Overrated:
  • Chris Bosh- I went on record back when "The Big 3" started the year 8-6 that giraffe neck Chris Bosh is easily one of the most overrated players in the NBA. He was a 20/10 guy in Toronto. Big freaking deal! Toronto was horrible and he was the only decent player on the team. Of course hes going to have good numbers. Everyone acts like he is some kind of superstar. Trust me on this one....hes not. Would you consider Kevin Love a superstar?!?! Kevin Love averages 21 and 16 for the T-Wolves. While that is very very impressive he is by no means a superstar. Same thing for Bosh. The guy had a 1-19 night for crying out loud! That's almost impossible. Look at this toolbox at work....
  • Joe Johnson- Is there another player in the league who goes MIA in big games more than Joe Johnson? If their is I challenge you to tell me who it is. The Hawks have set their entire franchise back 5-8 years with the absurd contract they offered him. I can't believe more people aren't on board with me here. We pay him to be a SUPERSTAR. The Sunday night game against the Knicks was a great stage for him to step up and play well. If you consider 15 5 and 3 a good game then yeah he's worth 21 million a year. I want someone to give me 3 examples over the last 3 years where you walked away from a game saying "we only won because JJ was incredible". You cant do it and that's a problem. Again, its not JJ's fault the Atlanta Spirit want to pay him all that money. However you would think these guys are smarter than you and me. I called this back when it happened and this is why I am so hard on Atlanta Sports. The JJ contract is what is wrong with the Atlanta sports scene. Everyone is ok with being ok. This here is quality Sports writing.
Most Underrated:
  • Kevin Love- Is it just me or has there been ZERO talk about Kevin Love and the absolutely ridiculous numbers he is putting up. I know I said earlier that it helps he plays for the T-Wolves but he has tied the ALL TIME record for consecutive double doubles at 51. Thats freaking impressive no matter where you play. All time consecutive double doubles? No not Bill Russell, not Larry Bird, Not Shaq, none of those guys. Just a white boy from Oregon who will probably break Moses Malone's record tonight. Maybe its just me but I would take Kevin Love over Giraffe neck Chris Bosh all day everyday.
Most Underappreciated:
  • Tim Duncan- "TIMMMAYYYYY" as he banks another jumper in off the glass. "The Big Fundamental" as he drop steps you to death. Did you know since the Spurs drafted Duncan #1 overall they have yet to have a season where they win less than 50 games? That's absurd. Lets not forget they also have 4 Championships in that same time frame. Duncan might be the most under appreciated Superstar that I can think of in the last couple of decades. No one EVER talks about him yet hes a double double machine and wins.
  • Derek Fisher- DFish is like Robin to Kobe's Batman. Hes the little sidekick who is solid as hell and just seems to make plays when asked.  I will never forget the shot he made against the Spurs that year in the playoffs that he got off in .4 seconds......DRAINO. Notice who made the shot prior. TIMMMMAYYYYYYYYYYY.
Worst Player in Basketball:
  • Shelden Williams (TIE)- 5th overall pick huh? Could have drafted Brandon Roy, Rudy Gay or Rajon Rondo. Not only is Sheldon Williams the worst player in the NBA, he can't even beat his wife in a game of 1 on 1! Candace Parker would straight abuse Sheldon down low. Add to the fact that his forehead needs its own zip code and you got a recipe for disaster. Just look at the clip...

  • Chris Quinn (TIE)- WHOOO?? Exactly my point. I feel like every time I turn on a game and I see Chris Quinn running the show I think that Ashton Kutcher is a few seconds away from popping out and blowing the cover on another Punk'd. This guy is what gives the white PG's a bad name. He is slow as balls, looks even goofier and has a horrible haircut.

Worst Coach:
  • Vinny Del Negro- Vinny Del Treyo to all you old school Spur fans. The guy looks like a Columbian Drug Lord but could flat stroke it from the outside. Now, hes leading a pretty good Clippers team into the ground. This was AFTER he underachieved as the BULLS coach the last few years. Its hard to determine who is the worst but this guy gets the nod because of his hair.

Best Coach:
  • Greg Popovich (TIE)- As mentioned earlier the SPURS run over the last 12 years or so is pretty freaking incredible. You can bet your ass every time you play them they are going to play hard and be well coached. POP is the man and is a very firery dude.
  • Phil Jackson (TIE)- I know its pretty absurd that I have him tied with Popovich but in actuality its much closer than you may think. Since 1999, Jackson has 5 Championships but Popovich has 4. Now Jackson has more but Popovich didnt have Kobe and Shaq on his team. I used to think that Phil Jackson was overrated until my High School coach proved me wrong. Michael Jordan had yet to win a playoff game until PJ came along. Kobe wasn't really Kobe until Phil came and his 11 Championships are a record.
FOOTBALL

Most Overrated:
  • Chad Ochocinco- He used to be one of the best receivers in the NFL. Now he just is constantly running his mouth and can't back it up. He was all talk last year about how he and TO were going to light it up. NEWSFLASH Chad, TO had a good year and you stunk it up. Carson Palmer has had about enough of Chads crap as well telling Bengal ownership he will never play another down for them. Chad is also ridiculously cocky. While he is overrated he does have some very funny TD Celebrations when he does happen to score. This isn't Ochocinco but it made me laugh pretty hard:
  • Matt Hasselbeck- Anytime Charlie Whitehurst is BROUGHT in to replace you....you must stink some kind nasty. Not only does he look unbelievably unathletic, but he plays that way. He gets hurt a lot and is probably in the bottom 5 for worst starting QB's in the league. Every now and then he will pull something out of his ass like he did against New Orleans but then its....cue the music!

Most Underrated:
  • Curtis Lofton- What does a guy have to do in order to make a PRO BOWL? My lord, Lofton only had 118 tackles, 2 sacks, 3 forced fumbles and an INT for the 13-3 Falcons! Not to mention the year prior he had 138 tackles. The guy flies under the radar for being a pretty damn good LB. I know Patrick Willis is the up and coming superstar but Lofton is not to far behind IMO and only getting better. Show this man some love already.
Most Underappreciated:
  • Fullbacks- I am going to give some FB's some love here. How do you think it is that these great RB's break off big chunks of yardage? Most of the time its a steamroller who's job it is to rock a LB to open up a hole. You think offensive lineman dont get any love? Try being a FB. In Atlanta we have Ovie Mughelli who has been leading the way for Michael Turner the last 3 years and Turner has lead or been in the top 5 of rushing all 3 years. You had Emmitt Smith give Darryl Johnston a very special shoutout during his Hall Of Fame induction speech. What about Mike Alstott and Lorenzo Neal? 2 beasts who punished defensive players for years. WWAFD. What would a fullback do.
Worst Player in Football:
  • Dan Orlovsky- the pride of UCONN football outside of Johnny Mac. It's pretty hard to be labeled the WORST in a professional sport because that still means your better than 99.9% of everyone who plays the sport. However, this guy is pretty freaking bad. The play he made against the Vikings still makes me laugh as he has absolutely no idea how bad he has just run out of bounds as he continues to go through his reads. Take a gander:

Best Coach:
  • Bill Belicheck- Its almost impossible to ignore what Bellicheck has done in new England over the last 8-10 years. 3 Super Bowls, multiple 12 win seasons and he has made the hoodie not as lame. He might be the biggest jerk in the room but the guy just wants to win and I can respect that.
Worst Coach:
  • Eric Mangini- I know he is no longer in the league but this guy is absolutely terrible! ManGENIOUS as JETS fans tabbed him after 1 decent year and then the next year hes out on his ass only to get hired as the Browns new Head Coach. He is just bad. Cleveland sucks but even they knew that he was not very good.

Betty White Award

This normally goes to an individual but I am going to give this one to the Miami Heat. I can safely say at this point that their is absolutely NO CHANCE you are going to win the NBA Championship this year and thus....thats an EPIC FAIL. All the ridiculous drama surrounding the "chosen" one LeBron James and now you have lost 5 in a row. LeBron used to be my favorite player in the NBA and now I can't stand the guy. The arrogance and smugness of this guy is sickening. What have you accomplished?? MVP awards? Big freaking deal. Your ultimately judged on your Championship totals. DWade has already won. Chris Bosh needs to go out to the Serengeti where he belongs with his Giraffe neck and you need to shut your mouth until you win something. Again, the playoffs haven't started yet but trust me....its over for the heat. The big 3...get out of here. Mike Bibby is your PG! Don't make me laugh. The guy is drawing checks from Quikrete because they make his shoes!

The Summer's Eve D-Bag Award

This is not an athlete but at this point its bigger than anything going on in sports so free game. Charlie Sheen. I'm sorry but I don't think its remotely funny nor do I think he is funny at all. In fact, I think Two and a Half Men is one of the lamest shows on TV. He looks like a guy who has completely lost his mind and fried his brain. These new videos he keeps releasing about him being a warlock and having his goddesses around him is just weird. Enough already. Why can't people in Hollywood just be normal for once? You got Charlie Sheen going ape shit and Linday Lohan stealing jewelry which they have on video tape! She seems to think she can now sue the jewelry store for releasing the tapes. Newsflash they own the tapes! They can do what they please with them. Stop being a mean girl. Back to Mr. Warlock. Not only do you pretty much look like a walking skeleton but I am going to go out on a limb (shocker here) and say you are dead within 2 years. That might be harsh but there is only so much one man can take.

Thats it folks! Once again thanks for reading and spreading the word. If you any suggestions or if you want to write for us shoot us an email at BNSports2010@gmail.com

Betty White Awards, Jay Cutler and NFL Draft talk

2011 is upon us and Bro Nameth is taking strides to cover every aspect of sports. We have added a few NASCAR writers and have a few ideas in the works for next football season. These guys on the other hand need to man up and grab a snickers; they are playing like Betty White. Here we go:

  1. Georgia Tech Men's Basketball on the road: GT=Armadillos....they get killed on the road! Someone might want to tell these guys that playing on the road is not an excuse for getting whooped every time out. They were blown out at Clemson by 25, lose to a very mediocre Virginia team by 8 but were down 15-18 the whole game and get the elbow of death from Northwestern earlier in the year. And oh yeah, they lost to Kennesaw State by 17!!!! Kennesaw Freaking State!! Are you kidding me?
  2. Maurice Jones Drew: The guy calls out Jay Cutler for not playing through knee pain. Newsflash broham you sat out the last 2 games of the regular season with knee problems and your team was fighting for a playoff berth! talk about calling the kettle black. I am starting to change my tune on Mr. Cutler and how he handled the situation but will address that later. As for MJD shut your trap. Until you play through an injury like that or something zip it.
  3. UCONN: A disgruntled booster wants his $3,000,000 back since he was not asked his opinion on the new coaching hire. Now to his defense, I would want my money back to since they hired Paul Pasquoloni (SP?). Who the hell is that? Here is my first point: How sad of a booster program is UCONN if they have to kiss the ass of a guy who donated only 3 million? Now don't get me wrong that's a lot of money but T. Boone Pickens wipes his ass with 3 million. Phil Knight over at Oregon can't even have a good meal for 3 million. Cmon UCONN are you a division 2 program? The guy is having an entire football facility named after him for donating 3 mill. Step your game up and grab a snicks. My 2nd point is that if this guy is your largest booster then you might want to oh I don't know, give him a call and see what he thinks. Whether you like it or not that's how it is these days.
  4. Syracuse Orange Basketball team: You have now lost 3 games in a row. One of which was to Seton Hall who straight up waxed you last night by 20+. If I am not mistaken you were as high as #3 in the country before losing 3 straight. Now, 2 of the losses were to Pitt @ Pitt and at home to Villanova who is the #7 ranked team in the country. However, you were essentially dominated by Villanova and then Seton Hall rolls in and lays the hammer down. Snicks all around for the Orange.
I am starting to change my tune regarding Jay Cutler. After hearing all the current and former players chime in on how he should have played that got me to thinking. Do you really think Cutler decided to quit when his entire life he has worked to this moment? It just doesnt make any sense. The point here is the media and most everyone who knows anything about Cutler doesnt like him. He is not a nice guy to be around and carries himself like he doesnt give a doodoo. If this were Tom Brady noone would have said a word about it. "Oh Brady hurt his knee, must be really bad". Since Cutler is a jerkoff people are just waiting to nail this guy. Now, he deserves alot of the crap he is getting since he acts the way he does. However, I think it is incredibly bush league for former players to call him out. Deion Sanders missed an entire season with Turf Toe. MJD as mentioned above didn't even play the last 2 games of the regular season bc of a knee injury and his team was fighting for a playoff spot. The only guy who has the right to talk shit is Mark Schlereth. The dude had over 20 knee surgeries so I think he is qualified and it is safe to say he played through some injuries. Eveyone else needs to kick rocks and be quiet. Cutler NEVER missed a game while at Vandy and he got rocked ALOT. He was sacked this year more than any other QB in the league and only missed 2 games. 1 of which was after the Giants sacked him 500 times concussing him. I don't like the guy anymore than you guys do but cut the dude some slack.

NFL DRAFT TALK

I have heard alot of talk on what the Falcons need to do to help improve the team and I believe the 2 main thing we need are pass rushers and a playmaker on offense. Now I know what your thinking. No shit. I see a guy who is going to be available in the 3rd or 4th round whi I think is a steal and is going to be a great player. Every week I am going to Highlight a player who is under the radar that I think could really help the Falcons next year.

Randall Cobb: This kid makes plays in the deepest, toughest conference in College Football. He is the perfect slot receiver and could have the impact of a Antoine Randle El or Wes Welker. I am curious to see his shuttle time and 3 cone drill time as that is an indication of burst speed and laterall quickness. Something that is needed to be a slot receiver. How many times do you see Wes Welker abuse a safety or LB on a quick out and turn it into a 15-20 yard gain? it happens almost twice a game. Welker is by no means "fast" but he gets in and out of his breaks very very quickly. Whoever ends up with Cobb is getting a very good football player.

Bring the Beer, Leave the Calculator

Bring the Beer, Leave the Calculator
By Corey Rose

Let’s face it. NASCAR’s point system is about as complicated as Chinese sign-language.

Up until 1967, the point system was entirely weighted on the cash prize of each race. Races with smaller purses paid fewer points than races with bigger purses. The series then tried the “distance” approach following a simple premise: The more the miles; the more the points. The system has since been given algorithms season after season and NASCAR has given up on explaining why.

Bro Nameth’s argument: No sport that is BYOB should operate under a point system that necessitates a calculator.

Speaking of beer:

As testing gets underway at Daytona this week, word is starting to come out that we should expect a complete overhaul of the point system. Smart money says to expect a possible “43-1 arrangement,” where 43 points are awarded to the winner and it trickles down the finishing order to a single point issued to the guy who sucks. Only problem is nothing about NASCAR is smart.

For the sake of racing and American Budweiser, NASCAR needs to throw this out like Jeremy Mayfield. Take our advice:

Follow the lead of our European superiors and add Redneck. Just this past season, Formula-1 adopted a new point system that proved successful by awarding more points to more drivers, but only with the top-10 receiving points. Now with NASCAR’s 43-car field a little expansion would be necessary. The series should award 50 points for a win, 40 for second and in increments for drivers finishing in the top-25. “Start and park” drivers, Casey Mears and everybody else in the back can pick up the beer cans.

This would not only place a greater emphasis on the win, but also make for manageable math. No multipliers. No formulas. Dale Jr-level addition only.

Throw in the NASCAR point wrinkles if you want. You lead the most laps? Here’s a 5-spot. You took the pole position? Awesome, have another 5. You lead a single lap? Give them a point.

All NASCAR needs to do is break out the Nintendo-64. From Wal-Mart Daycares to Fraternity houses across America, there is one point system that has stood the test of time. It came from none other than the game Mario Kart.

It is simple. It is understandable. It awards consistent drivers with tangible point figures. Our sport should adopt a similar model…just no lightning bolts – shits gay.

Friday Free For All Volume 8.0

Friday Free For All…..Volume 8.0
By: J Shannon
With some sad, sad, news, I hate to be the one to say this, but football season is almost over. I know it is rough, but if we stick together as a Bro Nameth family, we will find a way to get through the rest of the year. By the Way, if you haven’t ADDED BRO NAMETH SPORTS ON FACEBOOK, PLEASE GET BROTIVATED AND ADD ASAP!

----Top 3 “I think you should know” Stories from this Week:
1.       Keith Fitzhugh, You are def. a BRO in my book….

If you haven’t read anything about this story, it is one of the more heartfelt stories going on in sports right now. Keith Fitzhugh is an ex NFL player who lives and works here in the Atlanta area. He is a train conductor with the Norfolk Southern Railroad. Fitzhugh was offered a practice squad spot with the New York Jets, and an opportunity to possibly stay on the rest of the year. Fitzhugh declined, stating he cannot take a risk on his dream, because he has a guaranteed paycheck every two weeks now. He also said that his paycheck he currently gets not only pays his expenses, but also helps support his parents. The fact that the guy will put aside his own dreams to keep supporting his parents says a lot….

2.       College Basketball Saturday..….

There are a few big games this weekend, and I’m looking forward to nothing more than kicking back on the couch, starting a nice fire, and throwing back a couple of good ol fashioned American Brew Ha Ha’s. I have your entire Saturday already planned out for you, so kick back and enjoy….

(20) UNLV @ (24) Louisville – 12:00 Ricky P has put together yet another big time squad, and this will be the first test to see just how good the team really is…

(11) Pitt @ (11) Tennessee – 3:15 - This should be a great game…. I’m loving what Pitt has to offer this year….

Indiana @ (17) Kentucky – 5:15 - I know this game isn’t what it once was, but it’s still not a bad way to spend a Saturday afternoon.

3.       Down goes Urban, Down goes Urban…..

I’ll be honest; I’m not a big Urban Meyer fan. I think he is a little over the top, and seems to be a bit of an ass all the time. But I can’t really blame the guy for stepping down. Let’s face it, the pressure at a school like Florida is outrageous. The pressure of winning is often times tougher than when you are losing. Just look at last season for example, the Gators went 10-1, and Florida fans were disappointed. Add in the fact that both of his most recent Coordinators left to take over as head coaches at other schools. If you are a coach like Bob Stoops, Nick Saban, Les Miles, or Jim Tressel, why would you take the job? Yea it pays well, and you get some serious recruits from Florida, but is it worth all the pressure? I think not….Good luck to the next fool who heads that way…. BY THE WAY… MY GUESS FOR NEXT COACH…. MARK RICHT… YEA I SAID IT.
---Things that have pissed me off this week:
1.       D-Bag who doesn’t wait in line to get off ramp, but cuts in front of you instead….

Let me tell you something, there is nothing worse than waiting in line to get off the interstate, and some D-Bag cuts a car off way up in front of you. I love when a person tries to cut in front of me in line; I make it my goal try and be the biggest ass possible. I really like to ask the person if they would like to get in front of me, and then when they say yes, purposely block them from cutting in line. If you live in Atl, you know what I’m talking about.

2.       A Player who commits a foul then throws his arms up like “What I Do?”

I love when a guy commits an obvious penalty, such as pass interference, and then throws his arms up at the ref. after the flag is thrown. Chances are pretty good you know you committed a foul. Stop your bitching and complaining, man up, and play the next play.

---Youtube Clips of the week:
·         The first clip this week comes courtesy of JaVale McGee, who attempts to get his Jordan on…. Rule Number 1 when dunking from the free throw line: Make sure you actually can…

·         Not only is the best play of the year in my opinion, but this might be the best defensive play I have ever seen…..

---Shout-Outs for the Weekend
·         Cecil Newton- Way to at least be man enough to not attend the Heisman Trophy presentation. You’ve already tainted your son’s stellar college career, the least you can do is let him celebrate the biggest night of his life without you stealing the spotlight….

·         New York Knicks- You guys resemble an actual NBA basketball team. Lead by MVP candidate Amare Stoudemire, the Knicks are starting to look like the Knicks of old….

·         The White Man in the NFL Ain’t just the Kicker…. – Don’t look now, but the white football player is back, and I’m not talking about just playing O-Line.  Watching the Colts game last night, I was reminded that guys like Blair White, Danny Woodhead, Wes Welker, Jordan Shipley, Toby Gerhart Riley Cooper, and Peyton Hillis. Defense is just as nasty, with Tom Nelson, Jim Leonard, AJ Hawk, Clay Mathews, and Brian Cushing

·          Joe Johnson’s Elbow…. Joe has been out 6 games, and the Hawks are 5-1. Shocker. Hey Joe, make sure that thing heels well my friend, you may need to lay off of it a few months or so….

·         BG- I’m just going to say I am extremely tired today, and have you to thank. Hope the NY is fun, and I better be getting something bad ass when you get back.

·         Matt Watts- Appreciate your input on the blog, even though I purposely try and disagree with you just to piss you off….

·         The 30 for 30 Series- I actually haven’t seen one yet that isn’t good. Even when I feel like I’m not going to be interested, I still get hooked. Here are my top 5 you need to check out….

1.       THE U- The racial and cultural evolution of Miami during the 1980s as represented within the University of Miami football team.

2.       Winning Time: Reggie Miller vs. the New York Knicks- The impact of Reggie Miller on the New York Knicks in the 1990s, specifically focusing on the 1995 NBA Playoffs and Miller's interaction with Knicks fan Spike Lee.

3.       Run Ricky Run-A profile of Ricky Williams focuses on his brief 2004 departure from the NFL, when he sought self-redemption amidst media criticism and fresh rumors of marijuana use.

4.       The Birth of Big Air- The life of Mat Hoffman and his 25 year career of advancing BMX riding, both creatively and promotionally.

5.       The Best that Never Was- The 1981 recruiting of high school football player Marcus Dupree by multiple big-time college programs, his resulting career, and how his recruitment changed the recruiting process

As always, it’s been a pleasure. Leave a comment if you disagree with anything I got to say, and I’ll prove to you why you are wrong….. Check in again Monday Suckazzzzz.

Happy Crappy Monday Volume 8.0

Happy Crappy Monday ……Volume 8.0
By: J Shannon
Well, the college football regular season is in the books, and it was one hell of a weekend. As you can tell, this Happy Crappy morning has rolled over into Happy Crappy Afternoon, mainly because I slept a grand total of 3 hours the entire weekend. Epic is too small a word to describe the weekend, even with a beat down from Auburn. Anyway, here it is boys and girls….Happy Crappy Monday “Afternoon” Skeezers….
1.       Cam Newton Rolls through Atlanta….
Yes, I attended the SEC Championship this weekend. And yes, I was amazed to watch Cam Newton single handedly lay a beat down on the Gamecocks. I put together 5 checkpoints on Friday that The South Carolina Football team would have to do to win this Game. Let’s take a look at how the Gamecocks measured up to these points…..
ü  Alshon Jeffery has an enormous day. He lit up Auburn last game for 8 catches, 190 yards, and 2 touchdowns. He will need to do the same again.

…..Jeffery had nowhere near the day he had the first game against Auburn. Alshon ended the game with 4 receptions for 38 yards and a TD….

ü  They stick to the game plan. Even if Lattimore isn’t breaking off big chunks of yardage, you can not abandon the run game. You have to keep going to back to the run, in order to keep Jeffery free.

…. Lattimore was also held in check. He ended up with 18 carries for 84 yards.

ü  They force turnovers. The Defense has to play by far the best game of the season. I don’t think you can sit back and wait on Cam to make a move. I think Ellis Johnson has to dial up some confusing looks and blitz packages.

…. We def. dropped the ball on this one. I was extremely disappointed on not only the lack of effort on the defensive side of the ball, but the game plan in general that was put together by Ellis Johnson. Rarely, if ever, did you see a blitz dialed up to put some pressure on Cam. RUMOR has it Stephon Gilmore had to stand in the back of the isl on the back of the plane for the ride home, being that his ass was beat so bad by Cam he couldn’t sit in his seat… Stephon Gilmore thinks he should be playing on Sundays, but I feel like he wouldn’t start for a lot of Friday night High School teams these days. What happened to you bro? Step your game up, you should be ashamed that Cam made you his bitch with 268 yards passing on you ALONE….

ü  They play Turnover Free Football. Against Florida, I said USC could make 1 turnover or less. Well that was because Florida’s offense sucks worse than a Dyson Vacuum. Auburn’s Offense is nasty. USC CAN NOT TURN THE BALL OVER AT ALL.
.... Yea, well you know how this one goes. Garcia had two crucial picks, and the rest is history….

ü  The Ol Ball Coach returns to form. Spurrier has to put together the best game plan of his career. I think the fact that he has played this game numerous times is a huge advantage for South Carolina.

….. Overall, I was disappointed in all aspects of the Game Plan. The offense was lack luster. The defense didn’t have a remote chance of slowing down the Cam Newton Express. Being that this was the biggest game in the history of South Carolina Football, you just expected the team to come out with a little passion….. Overall grade….

2.       How About Them Dirty Birdz……

Ok, I’m man enough to admit when I was wrong, and when I said the hiring of Coach Mike Smith was a bad idea; I couldn’t have been more incorrect. The man flat out knows how to coach. I’m not sure what type of brotivation he is mixing in the Gatorade up in Flowery Branch, but he has the Falcons playing inspired football. Regardless of score, and how much time is left in the game, the Falcon’s find a way to make the right moves and take the lead. All three phases of the team have stepped up when needed, and this week was no exception. Late in the 4th quarter, when the Falcon’s needed a spark, Eric Weems decided the best way to put points on the board was to return a kickoff 102 yards for a touchdown….I’m excited to see how deep this team can go into the playoffs….

3.       Destroying the National Anthem….

I’m a big fan of the Eli Young band, but that last thing you want to do as a professional artist is to abuse the National Anthem. Make sure you know it before you kill it…. The Chiefs fans let this guy have it this weekend….

4.       Oregon vs. Auburn preview….

Now that the dust has settled, it’s time to say it… War Damn Eagle. I have to pull for the Tigers in the game, being that they are in the SEC. I think this game has potential to be an amazing shootout. The game opened up in Vegas yesterday with Oregon being a 4 point favorite, and already today it has moved to Auburn being favored by 5. I’m looking forward to seeing the ball go back and forth up and down the field. But most importantly, I cannot wait to see what Oregon is going to wear. The Nike Corporation is going to put together one hell of a uniform combination for this game.

5.       My FAVORITE South Carolina Player….

Here you go fellas, I found a new favorite player on the South Carolina football team….

6.       Drew Stanton, Never again Bro…

Drew Stanton, the Third string Quarterback for the Detroit Lions, got to the opportunity to start this week. After rushing for a Touchdown, Stanton did the worse think he can do… he attempted to “Dougie.” Look, I got no problem with a TD celebration, or the “Dougie,” but make sure you know how to do it first….

7.       Gamecock fan support in ATL…

I have to admit, I was proud of how the Gamecocks traveled this past weekend. It was nice to see so many Gamecocks traveled to the big city of ATL, and I think the Friday night show with Patrick Davis was a huge success….It goes a long way to show that the Chik-Fil-A bowl didn’t hesitate to invite the Gamecocks back to the same venue within 3  3 weeks of playing. Let’s see if we can travel again….

8.       My Christmas list….

My December Christmas list is complete, and it is really simple. Malin Ackerman. She first popped up on my radar in an Entourage episode. For you avid Entourage followers, she was the third member of the 3-some with Sloan and E. She also stars in the movie Watchmen…. Let me know if anyone needs my address….

10.     The Top 10 in the Top 10

With College football coming to an end, and yes I am a little depressed, Here is the top 10 as I see it  for  COLLEGE ASSISTANT COACHES WHO MAY BE MAKING THE MOVE TO HEAD COACHES NEXT  SEASON.

1.       BRENT VENABLES- OKLAHOMA DEFENSIVE COORDINATOR – The guy has put together a top defense year after year. It is only a matter of time before he gets to step into the Big Shoes.

2.       TROOPER TAYLOR- AUBURN ASSISTANT HEAD COACH – Most people won’t know this name unless you are a Auburn fan. Trooper is the Tool Shed who can be seen waving his towel on the sideline of an Auburn Game. But Trooper is a hell of a recruiter, and insiders are saying it is his time to get a shot at the top position.

3.       BUD FOSTER- VIRGINIA TECH DEFENSIVE COORDINATOR- Bud has been the DC in Virginia Tech for like 90 years. He always puts together a good D. Although he wants to take over after Beamer leaves, It looks like Beamer is in it for the long haul. Bud will get his shot soon.

4.       GUS MALZAHN- OFFENSIVE COORDINATOR AUBURN- Just won the SEC Championship, laying 56 points in the game. Just won the Broyles award for the Number 1 assistant of the year. It is his time….

5.       KIRBY SMART- DEFENSIVE COORDINATOR ALABAMA – Time to get out of the shadow of Nick Saban…

6.       TYRONE NIX- ASSISTANT HEAD COACH OLE MISS- Nix needs to make the jump to head coach sooner rather than later, being that Ole Miss looked horrible this season. He needs to cash in the chips while he is hot….

7.       WILL MUSCHAMP- DEFENSIVE COORDINATOR TEXAS… Yea I know he is the Coach in waiting at Texas, but how long can he sit in that position before he gets antsy?

8.       DICK BUMPAS-DEFENSIVE COORDINATOR TCU- Dick has been a multiple finalist for the Broyles Award. Yea he coaches at TCU, but he has put together a Defense in an area of the country that has him competing for players with top schools like Oklahoma and Texas.

9 & 10. YOU DECIDE- Give me some feedback, and let me know which college assistant coach needs a new gig. Best answer gets a Bro Nameth T…..

Leave me your thoughts and comments on the facebook post…. See you all Friday morning Suckazzzzzz.

Weekly Awards..Betty White, 5 Hour Energy and the Mike Tyson Award

Well its that time again! Time for Betty White to show her face. Grab a Snickers and stop playing like Betty White.
  1. LeBron James: Stop acting like a diva and start making plays. Spoelstra calls you out for taking everything like a joke and you bump into him after a timeout. Say what you want but that little bump was done on purpose. Again, the WORST decision those guys made was playing together. Too many egos on 1 team.
  2. Stevie Johnson: First off your named after a Pop Star from Saved by The Bell and second did you really just blame God for dropping the ball? Are you kidding me? You literally cant dig yourself out of a comment like that. You make at worst 400K a year to play football and your blaming God? This has got to be an all timer for stupidity.
  3. Skip Bayless: You really have got to be the dumbest guy that works for the 4 letter network other than Jamelle Hill. On LIVE TV Skip said the Falcons have not beaten anyone at home other than the Cardinals. Yes he said the Cardinals. This was AFTER the Falcons just beat GB the day before and are only 2 weeks removed from beating the Ravens! It really does make me wonder how someone like that gets paid to give his opinion. Get informed and Get Brotivated.
  4. Boise State: You just blew a 17 point lead to NEVADA. Let me say that again, you just blew a 17 point lead to NEVADA! This just goes to show you what I have been saying for 3+ years now. You stick a team like Boise in a conference where they don't get to play patty cakes every week and they will slip up. You freaking lost to NEVADA! Don't give me this "Oh Nevada is good" crap. Please. Nevada wouldn't win 6 games playing an SEC schedule. Someone put the kicker on Suicide Watch.
  5. Alabama: You just blew a 24-0 lead against Auburn at Home. I cannot ever remember seeing a Nick Saban coached team just falling apart like that. They couldn't do anything on offense and couldn't stop anyone on defense. The offensive side of the ball is where they got wooped. After dropping nearly 400 yards of offense on Auburn's chin in the first half they literally couldn't do jack in the 2nd half. And what the Hell was Mark Baron doing on that horrible attempt at picking off that pass that went for the long TD?? It looked like he missed it on purpose. Watching it LIVE I was thinking that was going to be intercepted but instead it went for a long TD.
Someone get the Cal Golden Bears Men's Basketball team a case of 5 hour energy! My God did they have that 2:30 feeling a couple of days ago. They scored 5 points in the first half of a game. 5 POINTS! That is almost impossible to do. You really would have to try and NOT score in order to only score 5 points. They shot 2-25 and 0-8 from trey land. Bro Nameth did some research and found out the lowest scoring half of all time in NCAA is 4 points. That was by Davidson against Duke. Ironically they came back and on the game! Yo no creo for Cal. They still got beat and thus have earned the 5 Hour Energy Award.

We have added the Mike Tyson award to the Weekly Awards. Its pretty simple this award goes to the person or team who got a beat down. Pretty easy choice this week!
