Friday Free For All…..Volume 17.0

Friday Free For All…..Volume 17.0
By: J-Shannon
FRIIIIDDDDAAAAYYYYY, Thank God, I didn’t think this day was coming. I personally have had one hell of a long week, and I’m looking forward to doing nothing more than throw up the feet on a coffee table, loosen the tie, and crack open an Ice Cold ‘Merican. We got lots to cover this Friday morning, so stop acting like you’re working and start reading. This week, we tackle great sports movie clips, having legal but illegal sex, the NFL, the most overrated college football team in the land, and another “Real Man of Genius.” Enjoy People…….

--The “I THINK YOU SHOULD KNOW” Story from this Week:
1. The NFL is making a BIG MISTAKE……
This may just be my opinion, but the NFL is making a HUGE MISTAKE. As of 9:17 Thursday night when I am writing this article, there has been no movement for putting together a new Collective Bargaining Agreement between the NFL and the Players Association. Let me break it down for the common folk as to what the real issues are all about:
The Team owners and players union are arguing over BILLIONS of dollars. What it boils down to is this, the Team Owners think they are owed more, and the players feel the same way.
Here is what pisses me off about the whole argument. If the league and players don’t agree to a new agreement, there could be a complete cancellation of the 2011 NFL Season. Now I will be EXTREMELY upset if there is no NFL season, but has everyone really stopped and thought about how many people this disagreement affects?
First, there will be NO pay for players. If you have a contract for 10 million or 500K, you aren’t getting a check. Sitting out a year probably won’t affect the Tom Brady’s and the Peyton Manning’s of the world, but what about the other 72% of NFL players who make $500K or less?
Second, almost every team has announced that Coaches and Staff will be taking pay cuts and or mandatory furlough days. Why; because if there is no season, there is no revenue. Billionaire owners don’t care if they are billionaires; they are going to cut cost when there is no revenue coming in. What did they do to deserve cuts? It’s not like they have any say over what goes down with the negotiations.
Last, keep in mind all of the hot dog vendors, beer men, stadium employees, television crews, restaurants, hotels, bars, strip clubs, merchandise workers, popcorn people, and everyone else who is involved in a game day. Their additional paychecks from the NFL season = 0.

--Thing that Have Pissed Me off This Week:
BYU Guard Brandon Davies…
So if you haven’t heard, BYU has a solid basketball team this year. They are on the verge of having one of the best teams they have ever had, and were on the verge of getting a Number 1 Seed in the NCAA Tournament. Well, Wednesday night they got the smack put down on them by New Mexico. Why? Maybe it was because their second leading scorer has been thrown off the team for breaking school honor code.
Now, here is what supposedly happened. Brandon broke school honor code by having sex with his girlfriend. As a result, he was kicked off the team.
You want my opinion? Stop whining about being kicked off the team. You are the one who chose to go to BYU, and you knew they had some serious rules and procedures. You are the one who signed the honor code, and you are the one who broke the rules. You shouldn’t feel bad you got kicked off the team; you should feel bad you let your teammates down. Look, the least you could do would have been keep the sex with the GF on the down low…. Step your game up Bro….

--Youtube Clips of the Week:
Notre Dame Bashing…..
Being that we are saluting the best “Real Men of Genius” commercials of all time, I came across this clip and HAD to include it in the Friday Morning Free for All. Definitely take the time to watch the clip; it is the perfect definition of a Notre Dame Football Fan…..

--My Favorite Sports Movie Scene of the Week:
New category, but really simple. Here is where I’m going to put in some of the absolute best sports movie scenes of all time…. This week:
“Has anyone ever told you you look like a little penis with a hat on?”

--Real Men of Genius Bro of the Week:
In honor of the kickoff of the 2011 NASCAR season, I felt it was only right to dedicate a portion of my Friday Free for All for the next few weeks to the “Real Men of Genius,” presented by ice cold ‘Merican Bud Light. This week, Bro Nameth Salutes you…….
Mr. Really Really Really Bad Dancer….

--Shout-Outs for the Week:
*LeBron James- I’ve had just about enough of “The King.” Like the decision wasn’t gay enough, he post this on Twitter just the other night 20+ games left in phase 2. I'm ReFOCUSED! No prisoners, I have no friends when at WAR besides my Soldiers.”
*Charlie Sheen- The guy is hilarious… enough said. He has the Balls and the Money to do whatever he wants….
*Serena Williams- Good luck on the road back from surgery….
*Chicago Cubs- The season hasn’t even started yet, and teammates are already fighting in the dugout. Solid.
*Green Bay Packers- Even though AJ Hawk led the team in tackles, you managed to convince him he was over paid, you then cut him, and then resigned him for less. Well Done!
*JaMarcus Russell- You got paid somewhere around 45 Million dollars for no reason, and you still got a house going into foreclosure. Nice move Bro…..
*Oregon Football- Looks like that run to the National Championship wasn’t a fluke. They actually have a little more in common with Auburn than making it to the big game. Oregon is being investigated by the NCAA for recruiting violations…..

As always, it’s been a pleasure. Leave a comment if you disagree with anything I got to say, and I’ll prove to you why you are wrong….. Check in again Monday Suckazzzzz.

Happy Crappy Tuesday Morning……Volume 18.0

Happy Crappy Tuesday Morning……Volume 18.0
By: J-Shannon
What is going on Bro Nameth World? It is your boy J-Shannon, and I’m back with another solid edition of the Happy Crappy Tuesday, volume 18! This week, we talk the NFL Combine, along with some other nice knowledge of what went down in the world of sports and entertainment this weekend. Sit back, enjoy, and let us know what you think. Also, please like us on Facebook and comment on some post people, we love to hear your input…..So here it is, the 18th edition of the Happy Crappy Monday Morning…..

1 Is There New Power in the NBA East?
Please tell me someone watched the Knicks vs. Heat game Sunday night. It was great. I love the fact that the world predicted the Heat would be unstoppable, and so far they are just a very good team. They had the Knicks down 4 with a minute to go in the game, and the Knicks dug in deep to upset the Heat. I love the fact that the Knicks are playing well. You get the sense by watching the new look Knicks that they are playing with some serious confidence these days. If you get a chance, look at the highlights from the game, and see if you noticed the same thing I did. Carmelo Anthony is playing like a different player, and he is playing some serious Defense, something that he didn’t do well in Denver. Carmelo asked to guard Lebron towards the end of the game, and that’s a hell of a way to step up and show some leadership on a new team. Look out for the Knicks, if they start to get things rolling, they could be a force to be dealt with in the playoffs.
2. Odd Questions asked during Interviews at the Combine….
So Future NFL Players get asked some unique questions during their one on one interviews with NFL teams. Why do teams ask such bizarre questions? I guess for a couple of reasons. One reason is the fact that these players are taught and coached on how to answer scripted questions. If you throw in a random question, this might be a team’s way of throwing off the player, so that he won’t remember those scripted answers. Another reason to ask these questions might be just to simply see how a player thinks on his feet. Here are a few actual questions that were asked by NFL teams to future players…..
What is the difference between and apple and an orange?
What is the similarity between a chair and a table?
Have you ever worn a thong?
If we dropped you in the middle of the woods, how would you find your way to the city?
Is your mother a prostitute?

3.  Jeff Gordon, Welcome back to Victory Lane…..
I had to take a moment and send some congrats to Jeff Gordon for this win in Phoenix on Sunday. The guy ended a 66 race skid. Congrats my man…..

4. Want one of the Coolest Jobs in Sports?
The Chicago Cubs have announced that they are looking for a new Game Day Announcer for Wrigley Field. The team has asked every one of all backgrounds to send a resume in and see if you have what it takes to become the voice of the Cubs. It wouldn’t be a bad gig to become the voice of the Cubs. Hell, I might even make you the “living the dream” legend of the week if you get the job.
5. Charlie Sheen is Historical….
Take a moment and really watch This Interview. Charlie Sheen has some of the best answers to these questions you’ll ever see…..

6. Wow, a New NFL Combine Record, this Guy is a Stud…..

I love Football, and I love the NFL. Nothing is better than watching hours of the NFL combine, where you get to see guys leave everything out there on the field, and bust their asses to try and impress NFL coaches and scouts. Stephen Paea took advantage of this opportunity this week, dominating on the bench. If you do not find the below video impressive, you obviously have never stepped foot in a weight room. This is the new NFL Combine record for the 225 Bench Press……

7.  Inspirational Story of the Week….
You have to give it up for a guy who is willing to do all of this, in order to spend time with his son and follow his dream. I don’t know how he does it, but the guy deserves some credit. Working a full time job, raising a son, and playing collegiate basketball has to be tough….

8. Photo of the Week:
This week’s Photo of the week comes from Derek Jeter. Derek Jeter is well on his way to spending some of that cheddar he collected from his new contract with the Yankees. This Mega-Creation cost a cool 7 Million. The place is 31,000 square feet, along with 9 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms. Not too Shabby Jeter….

9.“One-Liners” of the Week….

Clinton Portis- His run in Washington is over, Portis was released around lunch today….
20,000- Bro Nameth passed the 20,000 view mark this week, thanks to all who read….
D- Bag Cheerleader- So a Louisville Cheerleader grabbed the ball after a dunk and threw it up in the air after the game was over, so he thought. The cheerleader’s actions resulted in 2 free throws for Pittsburgh. Good thing for the Cheerleader that Louisville still won the game.
Chris Bosh- He went 1-18 this weekend in a game…. That is not Bro Worthy….

10. THE TOP 10 in the TOP 10…
In honor of latching on to the last little bit of football of the season, this week we will cover the top 10 Standouts and Surprises from this week’s NFL Combine.

10. Cam Newton QB– So Cam Newton’s time after college has been rough. First, He made the mistake at media day this week of referring to himself as “An Entertainer” and an “Icon”. Then, he went out had for forgot the importance of Accuracy. The guy was all over the charts, and was having a rough time getting the ball to receivers all day.
9. Courtney Smith WR – Why the surprise? Well the surprise is he wasn’t invited. That’s surprising being that he is 6’4’’ and has the perfect frame. Shocker he wasn’t invited.
8. AJ Green WR- Look, I know he is a stud, and I know he has talent. But he really hasn’t had a good NFL Combine week. His 40 was weak, as expected. But he also had a rough day with the passing drills, dropping passes more often than normal. Don’t get me wrong, I still think AJ is a top 10 pick, but he didn’t show that at the Combine.
7. Roy Helu Jr. RB – Not going to say much about him, just remember this name. The kid is talented.
6. Marvin Austin DT – The mammoth of a man didn’t get to play a lot of football this season because of the issues with UNC. So as expected, scouts wanted to see if he lost a step or got soft during his missed games. Well, he didn’t, he is a stud. Look for him to go in the first round…..
5. Jake Locker QB- Jake helped himself tons over the weekend. His biggest concern so far has been his accuracy, but he was on point this weekend. He also has the huge frame, and surprisingly he ran a 40 in 4.52, second fastest among QB’s.
4. Julio Jones WR - FREAK…. 11’3’’ Broad Jump, 4.39 40, and 38.5 Vertical…. Enough said.
3. Edmund Gates WR- Anyone know where Abilene Christian School is located? You might want to locate the school; they are starting to put out some speedy WR’s. A couple of years ago they had a kid name Johnny Knox surprise you in the combine, and now starts for the Chicago Bears. This year, Edmund Gates put his name on the map by running the 40 in 4.36, the fastest this year.
2. Von Miller LB- By all accounts, this kid is the prototypical inside linebacker. He has impressed everyone at the combine. His 40, his Bench, and his on field drills have everyone comparing him to a player named Demarcus Ware….. Not too shabby….
1. Stephen Paea- DL- You have already seen what he can do in the video above, the guy is a stud. He set the record this week for the 225 bench press at the combine, rocking it out 49 times. The best part about it, he was pissed that no one told him what rep he was on, he was aiming for 50.

As always, it has been a pleasure. Leave me your thoughts and comments on the facebook post…. See you all Friday morning Suckazzzzzz.

Friday Free For All…..Volume 13.0

Friday Free For All…..Volume 13.0
By: J-Shannon
It’s Friday, and it is Super Bowl weekend! Are you excited, can you feel it deep down in the pit of your stomach? I’m already looking forward to Sunday. I know I’m looking forward to Sunday. There will be plenty of Good Ol Fashioned American Brew HAHA on ice, Chips and Dip, and chicken wings. I’m taking the Steelers, strictly because they have been there A LOT, and know how to handle the pressure. But to hold you over until Sunday, here is a fresh edition of the Friday Free for All…..
--The “I THINK YOU SHOULD KNOW” Stories from this Week:
1.    High School Recruits signed on the dotted lines….
Some of you Bro Nameth supporters may be sports fans, but if you aren’t a college football junkie like I am, allow me to catch you up on what went down on National Signing Day. It looks like the Seminoles are on their way back to domination. Florida State has a small signing class (13) but a star studded class. The biggest shockers to me for the Day were the Clemson Tigers and the Georgia Bulldogs. Clemson is losing Da’Quan Bowers on defense, but they certainly are reloading. Clemson brought in the #1 ILB in the country, Tony Steward, and #2 OLB in the country, Stephone Anthony. Also added were two 5 star players on offense, RB Mike Bellamy, and WR Sammy Watkins. Keep in mind the #1 overall player in the country Jadeveon Clowney still has Clemson on his short list of 3.
Mark Richt may not have had the year on the field that he was hoping for, but he has worked his ass off in the offseason. Richt has also brought in a star studded class for the Bulldogs. Georgia struck recruiting gold, landing 5 Star RB Isaiah Crowell, and 5 Star DE Ray Drew. I got to give the Bulldogs some credit, and I’m a little nervous to see how the Bulldogs will develop over the next couple of seasons. I will say this, if Richt doesn’t produce immediately after the class he just recruited, he will get sent packing…..
Here is how I ranked the Recruiting Classes:
1.     Florida State
2.     Alabama
3.     Texas
4.     Georgia
5.     LSU
6.     USC
7.     Clemson
8.     Oregon
9.     Ohio State
Keep in Mind, IF, and that’s a big IF, Clowney signs with Clemson, I will move them up to the number 4 class in the country.
--Things that Have Pissed Me off This Week:
1.     People who are pissed that Ben Roethlisberger had a few Beers…….
So Big Ben flew into Dallas Tuesday to prepare for the ‘Ship. It turns out Wednesday night he took a couple of his linemen out to a piano bar, and ran up a tab of drinks to the tune of $800. Some people are pissed that he went out and had drinks during the week he is preparing for the big game. I’ll just say it like this, the man is an adult. He old enough to make his own decisions, go where he wants, drink what he wants, stay out as late as he wants. I think if Head Coach Mike Tomlin was really concerned about his QB at night, he would put a curfew on the guy.
I think it needs to be pointed out that Peter King, who is the best NFL writer in the business, was at Steelers practice today. King tweeted after practice that Big Ben is “scalding hot”, and he “looked terrific.” King also pointed out that at one point, Ben threw 4 touchdowns in a row in the Red Zone.
I don’t think Coach Tomlin is worried at all about what his QB is doing at night…..
2. Gabe Wright, Who the Hell do you think you are??
So Auburn has yet again another solid recruiting class. This year they landed 4 Star recruit Gabe Wright. Gabe makes his announcement on national television, and throws on a “customized” Auburn hat. Gabe’s hat reads Nick Who? This is a reference to the future Number 1 pick Nick Fairley, who plays the same position as incoming Wright. Now Gabe may be a good player, and yea he is a 4 star recruit, but who the hell does this guy think he is? So you have the POTENTIAL to be a good player. As of right now, you couldn’t hold Fairley’s Jock. Fairley wasn’t a 4 star recruit. He was actually a 2 star, who went to JUCO, and worked his way up to start for Auburn. The guy worked his ass off to get to where he is today. Before you start getting cocky, how about step foot on a college campus and actually do something. Your explanation was shitty too, it made about as much sense as a virgin porn star…….

Here is the clip of the Doucher himself…..
--Youtube Clips of the Week:
I’m going to be honest, I thought Lil Weezy was a Saints fan from New Orleans, but he kills it here for Green Bay. Take a good listen, and listen to the lyrics…..

This one is dedicated to all of us white boys who always wanted to dunk but know there isn’t a chance in hell of it actually happening….. Shout out to Tom Pritchard of Indiana for proving some white boys can jump….

This is your lucky day as we got videos all over the place...Shoutout to Bro Zimmerman for this vid...

This last clip has got to be the fastest goalie in the history of soccer. This dude might be able to give Usain Bolt a "run" for his money...It looks fake but is 100% real. This is easily the fastest white dude alive...Shoutout to Bro Switzer for the vid....

-The “LIVIN’ THE DREAM” Legend of the Week:
This week’s Livin’ the Dream legend is none other than Bro Paterno. The guy has the life right now. He is the Head football coach for Penn State. But he is at the point in his career where his coordinators do all the work, and he just sits back and watches the action. Bro Paterno is livin’ the dream……
--Shout-Outs for the Week:

        *   Schmee- It wasn't too long ago your ambitions were to be a pirate. You have turned in your
eye patch for a family. Wanted to give you a shoutout on your Birthday. HAPPY BDAY!
*    Matt Watts- I would almost rather get herpes than have to admit he is right, but he did call me out on a name I left off of Monday’s NFL Underrated List. Jon Kitna did step in for Tony Bromo, and did a solid job. The guy never gets any love.
*    Cleveland Cavaliers- You still suck ass, 23 in a row, not too shabby….
*    Andy Pettitte- Congrats on a solid career, even though you were caught juicing. At least you admitted you juiced like a man, and moved on…..
*    J’Woww- She was slammin in her leather outfit last night……
*    Extra Mustard- If you haven’t clicked on extra mustard on cnnsi.com, you are missing out. Does anyone know what the G on the Green Bay Packers Helmet Stands for?? No it’s not Green Bay, Click here for the Answer….
*     Coach Mike Smith- He got his new extension, well deserved….
*     The Newest Bro Nameth Supporters…..  Eddie Carta, Wifey Crooks, Uncle Bro Tomassi, and Jeff Fetters…..

One last sports worthy note. We have run across this facebook page that is spreading the word on steroid use. You should take a look and help spread the word. Hey sports fans, do you play steroid-free?

As always, it’s been a pleasure. Leave a comment if you disagree with anything I got to say, and I’ll prove to you why you are wrong….. Check in again Monday Suckazzzzz.

NASCAR Fans Wanted

NASCAR Fans Wanted
By Uncle Clark
One. There has been one comment in the first two weeks of Bro Nameth’s NASCAR coverage. It came from none other than the site’s founder, Chris McDonald. That’s about as meaningful as a scratch-and-sniff sticker on a preschooler’s art project.
We’re not looking for accolades. We’re looking to start the conversation. Here is why Bro Nameth’s readers should follow the sport. Here are the reasons you should become a fan of NASCAR:
1.        This boat is real. Jay Cutler isn’t fit to sell the programs for this sport. You don’t make it into NASCAR without laying it all on the line. The stories of most of the guys past and present in the series bet everything they had on their ambition and their will to win. In this sport, there aren’t athletic scholarships and there sure as hell aren’t draft picks. There are 43 spots in the top series and there are thousands that want in. You want proof? Head to your local hometrack. I’m talking about places where race teams are families; places where drivers are competing for sponsorship dollars against teams from men’s softball leagues. Careers begin here. Dreams die here. Racing happens in between.

2.       The sport is rooted in moonshine, a beach and the will to win. The booze isn’t what’s impressive. It’s the fact that an act of civil disobedience in the time of prohibition developed into a national pastime on the coastal sands of Florida. Bootleggers boring out cylinders to outrun the feds have become physics professors looking to outpace the competition. It’s a unique story. It’s an American story. It should be yours.

3.       Bristol. Motor. Speedway. Some genius looked at a toilet bowl and thought it looked like a race track. And he was right. 43 cars line up on a ½ mile track with a banking angle that notches as high as 30 degrees. Drivers then turn 15-second laps at speeds exceeding 120 mph in front of 165,000 fans who brought their own beer under the lights of an August night. The only things brighter than the Budweiser cans are the brake calipers glowing red over the course of 500 laps. To quote a bro:

4.       Rachel Nichols doesn’t cover NASCAR. Stop moving your hands when you talk woman.

5.       The Radio. You have complete access to the communications of your race team. Everything from the crew chief’s race strategy to the driver’s choice of Gatorade is aired to the public. You know when your driver is pitting, what adjustments the car is taking and exactly how pissed he is when he gets loose in a corner. What happens over the radio is unscripted and uncensored. You have full access to the adrenaline-fueled emotion that comes from 200 MPH.

6.       The race weekend. You will meet the best people in the world at a NASCAR race. Camping in a field outside a racetrack for three days will restore your faith in America. Here’s a quick comparison: Last year I went to a hippy music festival and I had everything down to my Frisbee stolen…Peace, Love, my ass. The year before I went to the Cocacola 600 in Concord, NC and when I came back from a beer run somebody had picked up my empties. Wonder where I am going this year?

7.       It’s racing. If you follow IRL or Formula-1, you’re in the right zip code, but you’re watching a traction controlled version of vanilla pudding. In NASCAR, bumping into the guy next to you is just a part of the sport. In open wheel it’s a death wish. Drivers police themselves and when one gets out of line he is put in the wall on the next lap. Teams will do anything it takes to win. If it means taking the leader out than watch what happens. Most of these points may sound redneck and that’s because they are. But the result of this attitude is a competition and a sport that is unmatched.

Becoming a NASCAR fan takes time. I used to be like you: I made fun of this sport. Then my roommate in college forced me to watch a couple of races. When you see drivers run four-wide on a track only wide enough for three you begin to recognize the adrenaline that brought them there. It’s only a matter of time before you feel that adrenaline yourself.

We’re only a few weeks away from the Budweiser Shootout, a glorified all star-race on the world’s most storied racetrack – Daytona.  Bro Nameth will have you prepped, but we want you talking.

Betty White Awards, Braves Talk and NFC Playoff Chatter

Well 2011 is upon us and lets cut right to the chase. These guys need a snickers and need it fast. Here we go:
  1. Brett Favre: This really has nothing to do with his play, bc we all know that has sucked. Now your starting to hear the stories about how this guy is a creepy old man and obviously a big cheater. If this were 5-6 years ago I might think for a half second this wasn't completely true but after all the shit this guy has put everyone through with his "I'm retiring, no wait you've been punked" I hope he goes down like Frazier circa 1973. Peace out Brett
  2. The Big Ten: I don't want to have to beat a dead horse here but can we stop with the Big Ten is good this year talk EVERY year. The Big Ten is a joke and should get their 1 BCS game then go play in the Pampers Bowl on December 21st. The fact that they had 5 New Years day bowls is laughable. They went 0-5 and got thumped in 3 of them. The Michigan schools faired very well. Michigan loses 52-14 to Miss. State and Michigan State got the elbow of death dropped on their nose by Alabama 49-7. And big whoop Ohio State beat Arkansas. I am not all that impressed with Arkansas and to be honest OSU almost blew their big halftime lead.
  3. Dick Clark: I am sure this is going to come across about as jerkish as possible but I know I am not the only one thinking this so I will bite the bullet and go ahead and just say it. The dude doesn't need to be on Live TV anymore. He just had a stroke and well....it shows. I know I know, the dude is a legend and I'm an asshole. But you cant honestly tell me it was enjoyable watching him on the New years Eve bash when he was mumbling the whole time. Know when to hang it up.
  4. South Carolina Football: Way to go! Get smoked by a Florida State team you should have beaten. Way to go Stephen Garcia you were responsible for another 4 turnovers. I don't know why I get mad bc this shit happens every year. "Wait until nest year." How about you take your tampon out and make a freaking play already. Absolutely NO EXCUSES next year as we have every major offensive weapon back.
The Atlanta Braves signed Yo momma is Uggla to a 5 year 62 million dollar contract. Now, at first glance you might say "why the hell did we pay a 2B 15 mill a year." Here's why...the guy averages around 30 HR's and 100 RBI's a year. You would be hard pressed to find another 2B other than Chase Utley that will give you those kind of numbers. So when you break it down that way he is worth every penny. You pay a guy like Derek lowe 15 million a year and he plays 1/5 days. Dan Uggla is a player and IMO is worth everything we paid him.

I will have this on the post for tomorrow in the Picking contest but wanted to let you hear it here first. Did you know the New Orleans Saints have never won a playoff road game?? That's right folks. The saints travel to Seattle for the first round of the playoffs. You heard it here first...THE SEATTLE SEAHAWKS BEAT THE NEW ORLEANS SAINTS ON SATURDAY!
