Meet the writers

Chris McDonald

I have lived in Atlanta my entire life and am a die hard Atlanta Braves, Falcons, Hawks and Georgia Tech fan. I played baseball and basketball in high school and have always enjoyed the strategy involved in sports. I am married and recently had a son and he is going to be the biggest bad ass the city of Atlanta has ever known. The kids a beast and is definitely going to know how to hit a hot route and break down a match up zone. I live for College Football and watch every game that I can. I think Bobby Cox is the most overrated manager in the history of baseball. I tend to always think I'm right so if you ever want a good argument just disagree with me. I think the recent Joe Johnson signing will go down as one of the worst contracts in the last 10 years in the NBA. If you want to know anything else just ask.

Sports pet peeves:

* Fumbling
* Running backwards  (thanks alot Peter Warrick)
* Watching 90 mph cheese go right down the middle
* Missing FT's
* Personal Fouls
* Not catching the ball with your hands
* Not knowing how to beat a zone in basketball
* Missed signs
* Laziness

Best sports moment: Watching Sid Bream score from second on Francisco Cabrera's game winning 2 run single to win the NLCS over the Pirates. Made it more sweet that the guy with the noodle arm in left was Barry Bonds!

I have grown up in South Carolina and lived there until I was 24 years old. I had the luxury of going to the University of South Carolina and am a die hard Gamecock Fan. Since moving to Atlanta, I have become huge fans of the Hawks, Falcons, and Braves. I live in downtown Buckhead and love every minute of being in Atlanta. To me, a sport is not a hobby; it is a way of life. Without sports, life would just be boring. I’m a college and NFL football junky, and will watch any game on TV, not matter who is playing. If I have a certain position on an argument I am taking, feel free to argue your side with me, but know you are going to be handled. My favorite coach of all time is Bobby Knight, because he knows what the hell he is talking about, and if he doesn’t like you, he’ll tell you.  Anything else you want to know, just ask.

Sports Pet Peeves:
*Whining
 *flags on Helmet to Helmet Hits
*Taking the First Pitch when knowing it is down the middle
*Holding when not necessary in football
*A guy who can’t lay down a sac bunt
*A muffed Punt
*The possession arrow
*12:00 college football Kickoffs

Best Sports Moment:
This could be a couple of things, but watching the 2010 South Carolina Baseball Team knock out Clemson two games in a row, and go on to win the World Series was pretty Special.

I currently live in South Florida and work as the Head Tennis Coach, and Assistant Golf Coach, for a University.  I grew up in Atlanta, went to Auburn University (originally), and live in Florida.  I was born in the Midwest, and have family as far north as Michigan and as west as California.  In high school, I won a state championship in tennis and started on the basketball team.  I love the mental aspect of sports and love watching players that truly know how to go for the jugular.  I believe that athletes should be role models and I miss the days when players would wear one team’s jersey for an entire career.  I love disagreeing with Chris McDonald about anything because I always enjoy a good debate.

Sports Pet Peeves:
·         Bad attitudes
·         A sense of entitlement
·         Laziness
·         Miscommunication
·         A player not being able to do the little things correctly
·         Selfishness
·         Bad Grammar

Best Sports Moment:
Mine is a complete tie between watching Sid Bream of the Braves slide in to clinch the pennant over the Pirates (Worst to First), and the Olympic hockey team winning the gold medal in 1980 (I do believe in Miracles, Al Michaels).

Corey Rose

I war born in Columbus, Ohio, but raised on Pennsylvania sports. With a father from Pittsburgh that went on to play football at Penn State, it’s easy to see how that happened. The other thing he instilled in me is a love for racing although NASCAR wasn’t in the curriculum. That I picked up my freshman year because a gearhead needs his fix, and SPEED Channel isn’t included in room and board. After graduating from Ohio University with a bachelor’s degree in Marketing, I moved back to Columbus for a job with a local Allstate agency. I grew up playing ice hockey and continue to play as well as ref youth hockey here in the Bus.

Sports pet peeves:

* THE Ohio State University
* Start n parks
* Legends and Leaders
* The whiney nature of soccer players
* Delay of game penalties
* The IRL
* Not getting a shot on goal in a shootout
* Running out of gas on the final lap
* Athletes who run their mouths off the playing surface

Best sports moments:

Watching the Penguins deny Marian Hossa and the Red Wings a Stanley Cup in the 2009 finals after leaving Pittsburgh a season before for what he called,”the best chance to win a Stanley Cup”.
