The Braves magic number is 2. Basically we just cant get swept by the Phillies. I dont see SD sweeping the Giants especially with the way their offense has performed over the last few weeks. I am still not sold on the way that we have been playing since scoring 3 runs feels like winning the lottery most nights, but at the same time I have to give some credit where credit is due and the Braves do deserve some for sweeping the Marlins. It would have been very easy to just win 2/3 since that is the MO of the Braves over the last few years. We knew we had to sweep and we did.
I have to critisize Bobby Cox some here. Why the hell was McCann not in the lineup on Wednesday? I dont care that its a night then day game scenario. The game was at 4:30 and we had an off day the next day! Of course i write something about this on facebook and everyone informs me at David Ross hit 3 doubles. Big freaking deal. That doesnt mean anything. You cannot be results based. Heres a great example. I played basketball in High School and our coach had this drill we ran where we got points based on how good the shot was regardless of whether it went in or not. A layup was 9, open jumper 7, contested 5 and a terrible shot was a 1. Lets say you take a terrible shot and it goes in. Does it make it ok that it was a terrible shot just bc it went in? Hell no! Its still a terrible shot and only worth 1 point! Same scenario here. Just bc Ross hit 3 doubles doesnt mean not playing McCann was the right move. It wasnt. You cant honestly look a Braves fan in the face and say that starting Ross over McCann gave us the best chance to win. You would be laughed at. This is the kind of crap that no one says anything about. It doesnt seem like a big deal bc we won but it is. How many times this year and in years past has Bobby sat McCann every day game after a night game? Almost every single time. Basically McCann is making Chipper Jones money bc he only plays in 3/4 of the games. 126 out of 159 games McCann has started and to my knowledge has not been hurt all year. I get it. Catching can be grueling. The problem is the Braves cant afford to not have his bat in the lineup on a daily basis. Another thing I want to ask is give me reasons why Bobby Cox is a great manager? Dont mention stuff he did as a GM bc I have heard that argument before and that doesnt count towards anything he has done as a manager. I want to know why everyone considers him this great manager? Here is your chance.

Brooks Conrad, MLB Free Agency and some Ryder Cup Trash Talking
Brooks Conrad is the man. There is no other way of saying it. That guy has single handedly saved 4-5 gamesw for us this season. I know that back tat hit the go ahead 2 run Jack and Coke, but it was Conrads triple that put some life back into the Braves. I had just gotten off the phone with my father in law, furious over Snitker sending THE SLOWEST PLAYER IN BASEBALL home from first on a double! Are you smoking crack Snitker? Not only was he out but it wasnt even close. McCann looked like he needed a IV. Anyway, up comes Conrad with me yapping about how we wont do ish this inning. Smack! Conrad drills a ball to the right center field gap (IMO should have been caught) that plates Melky. Back tat goes deep and the Braves lead. In comes Moylan: Australian for Sucks who gives up a dinger. All in all a good win. We have a 1.5 game lead for the WC but if im answering honestly I dont like our chances to get out of the Division Series if we do make the playoffs. We are sputtering offensively at the absolute worst time. Prado is down and out with a hip pointer. We shall see.
This offseason is a big one for the Atlanta Braves. We have some money coming off of the books and there is really only 1 move that needs to be made IMO. This 1 player will add the thing that his team has lacked for the last 3 years, a power hitting OF. We need to sign Adam Dunn. It has to happen. Dunn is only 31 and has averaged around 35 HR's a season to go along with a .380 OBP. Im thinking we can get him for 3 years 26-30 million. We have wagner coming off the books at 7 million per. This would add someone in the lineup that teams would fear. We dont have a single person in the lineup that comes up and people are afraid that he might go deep. McCann will catch one every once in a while when it looks like a 5 buck box it rocks it rocks from Taco Bell. Screw filling 1B and let Freeman start there from the get go. Hes supposed to be so good, lets see what he can do. Excercise your options on Infante and Gonzalez. I would like to get someone with some speed like a Scott Podsednick or something but not top priority. Top priority has to be to get a guy in here with some POP.
Im going through some sports articles on YAHOO! when I come across this article: http://sports.yahoo.com/golf/pga/news?slug=ap-rydercup-mcilroyflap on Rory McIlroy calling out my boy Tiger Woods. What McIlroy said was not all that bad but he needs to realize that if El Tigre gets pumped up and starts playing like the old El Tigre, thats no bueno for Europe. What the hell is he thinking? Doesnt he know that Tiger Woods is the BRO king of BRO Kings? The last 4 guys or so who have called out Woods he has dismantled them in Match Play. Best of luck McIlroy, your gonna need it.

Yo No Creo Garrett Hartley....Who Dat?? Some Braves talk and Troy Glaus Bashing
The Falcons rolled into Nawwlens on Sunday with a chip on their shoulder. Tired of being the Saints wipping boy the last few seasons. We have always for the most part played them tough but this was our time to show them that the NFC South rolls through Atlanta this year.
The game started out about as bad as it could have. We go 3 and out after harry Douglas does his best Michael Jenkins impression and drops a pass. We punt the ball to Lance freaking Moore who returns it 70 something yards to our 5 or so. Automatic TD a few plays later and Who Dat leads 7-0. The next drive showed me that this team is going to compete this year. Matt Ryan and Tony Gonzalez were straight abusing the Who Dat all game. Atlanta answers in 4 minutes and the game is tied. We could have easily folded up like a tent and gone down 10-0 or 14-0 before we even knew what hit us.
I dont know if this is a coincidence or not, but the Falcons appeared as if they wanted to take some shots down the field. They completed some long passes to both White and Gonzalez and it really opened up the middle of the field. I cant understand why Mularkey is so Bi-Polar with his playcalling? Let Matt Ryan run the entire offense. Keep taking those shots down the field and good things always seem to happen. I thought the combination of Turner and Snelling was fantastic. Around 180 yards between the 2 of them and both are bruising RB's. I love the bomb to Harry Douglas on the first play in OT. Puts the D on their heels and puts the fear into the defense.
When Hartley came up to kick the FG in OT, my service went out for a minute and I said "oh well hes going to make this anyway." Right then the game kicks back on and I see Matt Ryan going buck wild on the sideline. The falcons of old would have gone 3 and out and punted the ball right back to the saints. Not this time. The Falcons methodically worked their way down the field. In comes Matt Bryant who drilled the 46 yarder with plenty to spare to win the game. I dont know if some of you know anything about Matt Bryant but he lost his son to SIDS a couple years ago when he was kicking for the Bucs. I remember watching the NFL Countdown the day after his son died and if im not mistaken he drilled the game winning FG that day. I cant help but pull for him so im glad he made it. Who Dat?? Dat Matt Bryant.
Iv been very critical of the Braves as you all know but we still have a chance at the Playoffs. I dont know how since we have played terrible baseball the last 6 games or so but we do. I dont want to hear any excuses from anyone anymore. The time for that crap is up. If you want to make the playoffs then heres your chance. You absolutely control your own destiny and there is no one to blame if we dont make it but yourselves. Prado going down yesterday is not something we needed to see but nonetheless you have to go on. I hope they put Brooks Conrad in at 3B but they wont. They will play Troy Glaus whos bat is the same size as an oar. No joke he swings that thing i feel like yelling "Ryyuken". Referencing of course Street Fighter. But seriously that bat is obsurd. Why is it so big? Why doesnt he use a smaller bat so hes not blown away by 91 MPH cheese? Why when he swings does my watch quit working? Troy Glaus' bat is responsible for the Oceanic 815 crash. I just dont get it. He must have some pictures of Bobby Cox or something.
