Friday Free For All Volume 5.0

Friday Free For All…..Volume 5.0
By: Jason Shannon
Good afternoon all you Bro Nameth Supporters, It’s your boy Shannon with another great lunch addition of the Friday Free for All. The temperature has changed, the holidays are just around the corner, and the weekend is upon us. It is time to kick back for a weekend of decent college football, with a good Ol American Brewhaha in hand. This week’s Free For all looks a little different, mainly because there isn’t much I’m looking forward to this weekend, and a lot stuff seemed to piss me off this week. Either way, instead of the work you should be doing, read the Free For All, and enjoy.
----Number 1 Think I’m looking forward to this weekend:
Tonight, I’m going to check out the Roswell High School’s second round playoff game against Collins Hill. I know it is only high school football, but football is football. There is something about putting on layers of clothes and watching 2 teams do battle in freezing cold weather, regardless of how old or how big the schools are. Some family came in to the good ol ATL to visit, so I’m looking forward to catching up with them and watching the Roswell Hornets do work.
---Lots of things that have pissed me off this week:
1.     The D-Bag in Cleveland that beat up the 8 year old Kid:
So if you haven’t heard the story, this D-Bag Browns fan got hammered at the game this past weekend and tackled an 8 year old kid to the sidewalk after the Jets beat the Browns. The kid got scratched up and bruised, all because he was wearing his favorite team (The Jets) jersey. First of all, the cock face is a Browns fan, which automatically makes him one of the biggest losers in the country. Second, if you are going to talk shit to the other team’s fans, grow a pair and talk shit to someone that is taller than your waist. This guy should catch an ass beating of a lifetime.  Not only is he a D-Bag, but so is every other Browns fan that stood around and watched this go down.
2.     Nancy Lieberman coaching an NBA team:
Look, I’m all for women’s equal rights, Title 9, and all that other politically correct jazz, but this has got to be a joke. You mean to tell me that this female is going to be tough enough to coach in the NBA D league. I’m not sure if this is for publicity, or if they are serious, but I can’t see a 5’9’’ woman getting angry and demanding discipline from a group of 6’10’’ men. I have nothing against female coaches; I think Pat Summitt is one of the best coaches and motivators in the country. But this is ridiculous.
3.     ESPN- You’re a Sports News Channel,  not TMZ-
Since when does ESPN cover marriages and divorces? Explain to me how Tony Parker and Eva Longoria getting divorced is going to affect the San Antonio Spurs? It isn’t, so stop broadcasting it on Sports center. Look, Eva is banging, don’t get me wrong, but I could care less about their marriage. And while I’m on that subject, Longoria is requesting from the judge spousal support from Tony? Really, like the $1,000,000 per episode she receives from Desperate House Whores isn’t enough to cover your expenses? ESPN, get your act together, and as for Tony and Eva, good luck going your separate ways.
4.     Bernard Hopkins, you’re and idiot-
Bernard Hopkins goes on the record running his mouth and says “He hasn't faced any top-notch black fighter,” referring to Manny Pacquiao. I see you running your mouth Hopkins, but I don’t see you signing up for a beat down. As a matter of fact, I don’t see anyone signing up for a beat down. First of all, Manny has tried to fight Mayweather, and last time I checked, he is an African American. But it seems like Mayweather always finds a reason to pull out of the fight. When’s the last time you fought anyway?
Biggest Prediction for the Weekend:
Write it down, take a picture, I don’t give a &*%@. Here is my on point prediction for the weekend.  Green Bay gives the Vikings the business, 35-24 this weekend, and Brad Childress is standing in the unemployment line by Tuesday of next week…. Mark my words…
----Youtube Clips of the week:
It’s time to Rock out with your Gamecock out Baby…..

Big thanks to Rupert Pupkin for sending this one along, this kid is Sick Nasty…..

--Shout-Outs for the Weekend
·     Albert Wilson– Shout out to the Georgia State Panther who ran a kickoff back on Alabama 97 yards.
·     Roy Holliday- Cy Young winner, you deserve it when you throw a No-No and a Perfecto in the same year
·     Your Pie Pizza- Ate there for lunch today, it was on point…it is in Roswell, check it out.
·     The Big Ten- Shout out to the Big Ten for planning a game at Wrigley field, only the field is too small, and they can only use one football end zone in the game. Way to plan that accordingly.
·     Patrick Patterson- Way to leave school your junior year for the NBA, only to be sent down to the D-League. Stay in school bro.
·     Bruce Pearl- Dude if you are going to lie about texting and calling recruits, cover it up better, now you got to sit out the first 8 SEC games.
·     Big Grady Jackson- Grady had an arrest warrant issued for his arrest today. Good luck hiding, he is 6’2’’ and weighs about as much as a Volkswagen Beetle…
·     Steve Spurrier- It’s about time you earned that Paydirt…..
·     Dan “Yo Mamma is” Uggla- Welcome to the Atl big man, welcome.
·     SCHMEE- Shout out to coolest pirate I know, not only for supporting Bro Nameth, but for laying a beating on your husband for picking football. You are handing it to him. You should actually let JD start picking too, he might actually pick better than  Chris.
As always, it’s been a pleasure. Leave a comment if you disagree with anything I got to say, and I’ll prove to you why you are wrong….. Check in again Monday Suckazzzzz.

Frank Wren is a beast. Absolute Beast. In case you havent heard the Braves traded for Dan "Yo Momma is" Uggla the other day for Omar "Gooding" Infante and Mike Dunn. Uggla has averaged 32 HR and 97 RBI's a season in his 5 seasons in the pros. Considering we gave up a BP reliever and a glorified journeyman I would say this is an absolute steal. The Braves have added a MUCH needed power bat and with a TON of money coming off the books next year Uggla will get signed to a 4-5 year deal. We have given ourselves a pretty strong core of younger players that could allow the Braves to make a run at it every year for the next 6-7 years. I have been pretty hard on Frank Wren but what a great trade!

Betty White Awards, Coaching Morons and Frank Wren aka Steals McGee

What's not to love about this lady over here to the right? NOTHING! Just don't play like her. Sit back and grab a snickers, these are the Betty White Awards.

  1. Dan Snyder: I know this guy doesn't play he just owns the Redskins but 78 million over 5 years for McFlab?!?! This has got to be a joke. He is clearly hungry so why wait? Grab a snicks brah.
  2. The Redskins defense: Are you serious? 28 points in the 1st quarter with around 280 yards of offense? Way to step up and come out strong. I know MV7 is playing good ball and all but that is unacceptable. The fans should get to split the entire defenses checks that week for PAYING to come out and watch that.
  3. GT Basketball team: You just got thumped by KSU. NO not Kansas State. The mighty fighting Owls of Kennesaw State! Not only did you lose but you got drubbed by 17. When is GT just going to bite the money bullet and fire Paul Hewitt?
  4. NY Football Giants: Say what you want about the Cowboys are revitalized and all that crap but to come out and get drilled by a lifeless 1-7 Cowboys team with Jon Kitna at QB is an embarrassment. Your fighting for home field in the playoffs and the Cowgirls just laid a WWE smackdown on you in your own building. How do you know when you deserve a BWA? When Keith Brooking makes 8 tackles against you. Albeit they were all Pile Jumps.
The coaching moron of the week has to go to Paul Hewitt over at Georgia Tech. I don't care how good or bad your team is you should NEVER I repeat NEVER get absolutely run out of the building against a team like Kennesaw State! Your a school from the ACC playing a division 2 team. The bottom line is this should never happen. At one point Tech was down by 20 in the first half. Paul Hewitt likes to bring up the fact that Tech cut the lead to only 5 in the 2nd half. Big woop. Your on the way out Paul, peace!

For anyone who has followed BNS for a while now knows that I have been kind of hard on Frank Wren. He has made some very very suspect trades and FA signings the last few years in my eyes. But then he goes out and does something like this, and totally redeems himself! Dan Uggla for Omar Gooding and Mike Dunn? Did the Braves win the lottery? What an absolute steal. In the 5 years Uggla has been in the league he has averaged 32 HR's, 97 RBI's and hit around .265. I will take that all day from a 2B. The Braves were in desperate need of adding a BIG time bat and I think they have done this with the addition of Uggla. Frank Wren has earned a good ole fashioned American on this one. Enjoy it Steals McGee.

Nick Fairley Did No Wrong

 Nick Fairley Did No Wrong
By: Barrett Elkins

For those who watched the Auburn/UGA game this weekend, I hope you stayed until the end.  I want to talk about the scuffle towards the end of the fourth quarter and clear up what happened.  In order to look at what happened, we need to examine what happened up to that point in the game.  Nick Fairley (loved by Auburn, hated by everyone else in the country) had been harassing UGA quarterback, Aaron Murray all afternoon.  There have been complaints by other coaches that Nick Fairley is driving quarterbacks into the ground.
I want to point out that Fairley had one personal foul during the game.  It was late hit on Murray from behind.  It was clearly late.  It was dumb.  It turned a punting situation into a first down (which turned into points) for the Bulldogs.  I watched the play several times and I wanted make this point clear; it was late, stupid and a lapse of judgment, but it was not dirty.  Fairley is a stand-up guy and has been a team player all year round.  He would not make a premeditated hit to injure a player, especially in such a crucial point in the game when Auburn was about to get the ball back.
Late in the game, Fairley was pursuing Murray again and ended up hitting his helmet against the knee of the UGA quarterback.  Please watch the play as many times as you can.  I cannot imagine an angle of the play that would make this play look dirty or late.  It was a very unfortunate play for Murray, but was not a dirty play.  Even the announcers, who had kept a close eye on Fairley the entire game, specifically said it was not a cheap shot.  Fairley did nothing wrong that caused Murray to get injured.  The real incident is what followed after.
The situation I want to talk about occurred after these plays.  First, there was an intentional chop block thrown at the back of Fairley’s knees.  It was not an unfortunate play caused by an off-balanced offensive lineman.  This play was premeditated by the lineman.  Watch the play again before you tell me you disagree with me.  Following this play, there was another specific play called in retaliation against Fairley.  At the snap of the ball, four offensive linemen leave their assignments to take cheap shots at Fairley, then stay on top of him without getting off of him.  This is when the scuffle started.  Auburn players ran into the pile to grab the linemen off of Fairley.  Pushing lead to shoving and shoving lead to punches being thrown, by both teams.  As the pushing, shoving, punching and cheap shots were thrown back and forth, the UGA bench ran on to the field ready to fight.  The entirety of the UGA bench was on the field, while not a single member of the Auburn bench crossed the sideline.  Who do you believe is to blame in this situation?
When I played high school basketball, our team was the best behaved team in the school.  This was not because we were lucky enough to be blessed with incredible kids that constantly made the right choices.  Sure, we had some great kids, but great kids are not formed without great role models.  The reason our behavior was constantly in check was because we knew our coach deemed irresponsible behavior as unacceptable.  Our actions off the court were a direct representation to the entire team, and we knew it.  We ran our asses off if any player had a technical foul during the game, even if it was justified.  I cannot imagine what would have happened had we started a fight due to cheap shots during a game.
So, whose fault is it that the UGA team ran on the field ready to fight?  The answer is easy; Mark Richt.  Since 2008, UGA has had 25 players arrested.  That is by far the most in the SEC.  25 players in three seasons means that more than more than 8 players per year are arrested from Mark Richt’s team.  Obviously, these players do not fear the repercussions held by their coach.  A good example is the UGA/Florida game.  This is always a heated rivalry, but Richt took it to another level in 2007.  After UGA scored the first touchdown of the game, Richt ordered his team to celebrate in the end zone (by threat of extra conditioning for those who did not participate), which resulted in two unsportsmanlike penalties.  The head coach threatened his players with running, unless they broke rules and taunted the Florida Gators.  What message is he sending his players?
As a college coach, he is doing his players an injustice.  Why would UGA football players not believe they are above the law?  Why would they not think they can fight on the field?  Why would they not stop getting arrested during the offseason?  The truth is that as long as Richt allows this behavior to go on, UGA will always lead the league in penalties, offseason incidents and lack of class.  Maybe next time Richt is watching his team blow a lead against a top team, he will keep his composure…but then again, why would he change now?

Happy Crappy Monday Morning Volume 5

Happy Crappy Monday Morning……

Another weekend is in the books, and that means it is time for another Happy Crappy Monday Morning. Only this one is an extremely HAPPY Crappy Monday. Although the weather is terrible outside, and everyone is back at the office, Lot’s of great things happened over the weekend. Here it is boys and girls, another Monday Morning Top 10…. Enjoy.

1. When You are Good, You are GOOD…..

For those of you who took the time to read Friday morning’s article, then you already know. If you didn’t take the time, then #1 thanks for nothing, and #2, you will see that I am a pretty damn good. Here is a recap of what I’m talking about. This was written Friday Morning:

South Carolina vs. Florida - Alright, this is it for South Carolina. It is time to either do your business, or get off the pot. There is no secret that the winner of this game goes to Atlanta to play for the SEC Championship. It’s time for Steve Spurrier to earn all that money that he makes. This team has an opportunity to do something that no other South Carolina team has ever done. There are three keys to the game the way I see it.

A. Marcus Lattimore- The kid has to be 100% healthy, and has to run with the same fire he did against Georgia. This is the game to prove why you were a 5 Star Back.

B. Stopping the Run-Although South Carolina’s pass defense can only be found on milk cartons these days, I think stopping the run is the key to the game. Let’s make Florida pass over the top, make them win the way the struggle.

C. Turnovers- I’m going to go on record and say this: If South Carolina has at most 1 turnover, they will win the game. Cut and dry, if we protect the football, I feel we have the talent to outplay Florida.

Like I said, when you are good you are good. Lattimore lit up Florida for 217 yards and 3 touchdowns. As for Florida’s offense, there was none. Stopping the run shut them down. Florida ended the game with 35 rushing yards, TOTAL. At the end of the day, I said turnovers are what win ballgames. I knew if we had less than one turnover, the game would be won by South Carolina. Final turnover total by SC=0.

2. Credit Where Credit is Due….

Let me tell you something, let’s put all “allegations” aside. Cam Newton is a superstar. The man is the best football player in college football, period. If anyone else wins the Heisman, it is fraud. The Heisman is rewarded to the best ON FIELD performer throughout the year. That man is CAM. Don’t get me wrong, I have given hell to Auburn about the scandal and what not, but this kid can play some football.

3. 24 Hours of Basketball
What better way to kick off a college basketball season than 24 hours of college basketball. This is a tradition that ESPN started a few years ago, where they will continuously show live college of basketball for 24 hours. I got to give some credit to the colleges that were cool with the idea of planning college basketball games early in the morning, just to be a part of the action. There are a couple of good games to look out for: (3) Kansas St. vs. (21) Virginia Tech, (4) Ohio St. vs. (9) Florida, and (25) San Diego State vs. (12) Gonzaga.

4. Miranda Lambert, CMAs….

Banging, that’s all I’m saying…. Banging….

5. How Bout them Dirty Birds I don’t know any team in the NFL that needs home field in the playoffs more than the Atlanta Falcons. Matt Ryan seems to figure out a way to win every game, regardless of the situation. Thursday night he orchestrated yet another come from behind win against the Ravens. The kid led the team 85 yards in 1:14 to win the game. Matty “Ice” is 18-1 at home in his career.

6. How about them Cowgirls? Well, not only was Wayde Phillps fired, but this past weekend he was slapped in the face. The Cowboys came out and beat the NY Giants Sunday afternoon. The slap in the face is that the Cowboys played with the same team they have been playing with all season, except they actually played this weekend. New Coach Jason Garrett said that he changed some rules this week, requiring players to jog when changing drills, and requiring them to be on time to meetings. I mean really, why weren’t they doing this to begin with? You pay me $1,000,000 and I’ll be at meetings 4 hours early with coffee brewing for everyone.

7. Short Work Months…. When I was younger, having a short month or a holiday was a great thing. I always looked forward to Thanksgiving and Christmas. But in reality, when you have a sales quota and other requirements for your job, having a shortened month is a bitch. There is a lot crammed into this final week of November, being that no one is going to be working next week, and if they are working, they will not be accomplishing much. Short work months sucks…

8. SEC Championship Tickets…. They are impossible. This is one of the hottest tickets in the country. Anyone have any leads or ideas on how to get tickets, let me know.

9. Monday Night Football…

Monday night football should be a good game tonight. With the Eagles, you have a Quarterback who is playing better football than he has ever played before. Michael Vick is playing the position out of his mind, almost like he knows how he plays this season decides how much money he will make next year. And on the other side of the ball, McNabb, who seems to be every teams favorite person to blame. I think the guy is a good quarterback, who had some solid years in Philly. He derserves a little respect. But they gave him hell in Philly, and Shanahan seems to be giving him hell this year.

10. The Top 10 in the Top 10

It is again time for the Top 10 in the Top 10… Last week I did my top 10 Young Defensive Football Players I Would Build My Team Around. This week, it is the same, only basketball.

TOP 10 YOUNG NBA STARS TO START A FRANCHISE AROUND.

1. JOHN WALL- (PG) Washington Wizards- Kid is a stud, who has more assist at this point in his career than any other player.

2. CHRIS PAUL- (PG) New Orleans Hornets- Single handedly leading the Hornets to a 8-0 Start

3. RAJON RONDO (PG) Boston Celtics – Maybe it is just the system, or the players around him, but the kid gets better and better every year.

4. DERRICK ROSE (PG) Chicago Bulls- Has the ability to do everything. Score, Dish, and Lead.

5. BLAKE GRIFFIN (F) LA Clippers- Stud, can rebound and score.

6. KEVIN DURANT (F) Oklahoma City- Already a scoring champ, finds a way to score and get to the foul line, A LOT.

7. KEVIN LOVE(C) Minnesota Timberwolves- Kid went for a 30,30 the other night, that’s impressive.

8. JOSH SMITH (F) Atlanta Hawks- Josh is and will be a Star, if he is coached properly.

9. DARREN WILLIAMS (PG) Utah Jazz- There are a bunch of Point Guards in the NBA, and Darren ranks up at the top of all of them.

10. BRANDON JENNINGS (G) – Milwaukee Bucks- The kid went to Europe, made some cash, and is killing everyone in the NBA.

Leave me your thoughts and comments on the facebook post…. See you all Friday morning Suckazzzzzz.

***Shout out to Mary for sending the Carolina Video***

Atlanta Falcons Week 10 Recap and Grades

The Falcons had a short week to prepare for their Thursday night tilt with the Baltimore Ravens. Both teams came into the game with a 6-2 record and trying to establish themselves as the better teams in their respective conferences. This was a key game for the Falcons as a win here would put us in a great spot to get home field advantage if we continue to win at home.

Quarterback: A+

  • Matt Ryan played one of the best games of his young career against one of the better defenses in the NFL. Ryan completed 32/50 for 316 yards and 3 scores without turning the ball over. The Falcons were lethal on 3rd down converting 12/20 allowing the offense to chew up the clock.
Running Backs: C
  • Michael Turner didn't really do much but the Ravens are extremely stout against the run. This team is only going to be as successful as Michael Turner. While it is nice that Ryan threw for 300 yards the Falcons are at their best when Turner is rumbling for 100+. Jason Snelling had a HUGE receiving TD that got the ball rolling for the Falcons.
Wide Receivers: A
  • The only reason this is not an A+ is because of the pass Roddy White dropped on 3rd and 4 the drive before the Ravens came down and took the lead. If he catches that pass the game is basically over right there. However, Roddy White is a freaking beast! I honestly would not take another receiver in the league right now.
Defense: B+

  • The defense was fantastic for basically the entire game but a 4 minute stretch where the Ravens scored 2 TD's. If our defense continues to play this well then we are going to win a lot of games. We recorded 2 sacks and had 2 turnovers. Could you imagine how good Brent Grimes might be if he were 3-4 inches taller? He is almost always in the right spot but struggles with more physical receivers as he just can't hang. All in all I was very pleased with the defense and like how they are improving every week.
Deion Sanders: A+
  • The greatest cover corner of all time had his jersey raised in the GA Dome. Deion is the epitome of someone who backed up his talk. If he told you he was going to shut you down, he did. You got guys like Ochocinco nowadays who talk and talk and talk and deliver about half the time. Deion was a baller. I cannot fathom how the Falcons didn't offer him a contract when he was a FA. He calls Atlanta home and would have stayed had they opened their wallets. "I wouldn't have been Prime, if you guys didn't give me the time."
